A chara,

I would like to invite you/your organisation, to take part in a consultation run by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, on behalf of the Advisory Committee on Women’s Stories.

Minister Catherine Martin T.D. appointed this Advisory Committee on 07 March to examine how women’s lives and experiences, in all of their diversity, are presented and recorded within museums, galleries, libraries, archives, and theatres (in the national cultural institutions and national collections, as well as other national and local community cultural spaces). The committee will make recommendations to help the Government enhance and expand the representation of women’s diverse experiences, contributions, and stories. As part of its work, the Advisory Committee will also consider the feasibility of options for a dedicated presentation of women’s stories and/or a women’s museum.

We are seeking the views of stakeholders, including professional, advocacy, representative, and community groups, as well as other interested parties and individuals on an all-island basis and internationally. Your perspectives and ideas will help the Advisory Committee in considering the recommendations that they will make.

You can complete the survey here, in English or in Irish (gov.ie/womensstories). There are 3 questions to be completed.

You can also make your submission through Irish Sign Language or pre-recorded audio-visual formats, or other formats. If you have any queries about making a submission, please contact us at womensstories@tcagsm.gov.ie.

We welcome submissions at your earliest convenience. The survey will close on Friday, 30 August, and it may not be possible to accept your contribution after this date.

Thank you very much for taking the time to participate - your input is really appreciated.

Kind regards,

Sinéad Copeland
